Overview

Specifications are categories or groups that items can be assigned to. Unlike item groups (folders in the items guide), specifications provide a separate, parallel classification system. They support a hierarchical (parent-child) structure and are commonly used for menu categories in POS, reporting breakdowns, and filtering.

FAQ

How are specifications different from item groups?

Item groups (folders) organize items in a tree structure within the items guide. Specifications are an independent classification system — one item can belong to a group and have one or more specifications simultaneously.

Can specifications be nested?

Yes. Specifications support a parent-child hierarchy for multi-level categorization.

Where are specifications used?

Specifications are used for POS menu organization, filtering items in reports, and categorizing items for analytics.
