Scanners, weight barcodes, customer display, cash drawer and other equipment — Paloma365 Classic (Windows POS) ​

This article covers Paloma365 Classic — the POS application for Windows: barcode scanners, weight labels from scales, the customer display, the cash drawer, label and price tag printing, RFID keys, the POSUA relay device and the turnstile. All settings below are in the POS settings window ("MENU" → "Settings").

Weight barcode format: how many digits hold the item code and the weight ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" («Оборудование») tab → "Scales" («Весы») → "Barcode format" («Формат штрихкода») section → "Barcode format" switch: «22 00001 83.550 X» or «22 0001 183.550 X».
  • How to set up: option one is prefix (2 digits) + item code (5 digits) + weight (5 digits: 2 whole and 3 decimal) + check digit. Option two is prefix + item code (4 digits) + weight (6 digits: 3 whole and 3 decimal) + check digit. The choice is saved immediately.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the format is used when labels are scanned in sales mode and in warehouse documents. For the piece prefix the code is always read as "5 digits of code + 5 digits of quantity". Delivery requests ignore the format and always read "5 digits of code + 5 digits of weight". When a weight label is printed in the "Packaging" («Фасовка») window, the POS also always builds the code as "5 digits of code + 5 digits of weight/quantity" — the "Barcode format" setting does not affect printing.

Weight and piece barcode prefixes (22 and 21 by default) ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Barcode format" section → "Prefix for barcodes" («Префикс для штрих-кодов») group → «Весовой:» (weight) and «Штучный:» (piece) fields (with on-screen keyboard buttons next to them) → "Save" («Сохранить»).
  • How to set up: enter two-digit prefixes and press "Save". If a field is left empty, the POS uses 22 (weight) and 21 (piece).
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the prefixes are used when labels are scanned in sales mode, in delivery requests and in warehouse documents, when labels are printed, and when items are uploaded to Rongta and Mertech scales. Upload to Масса-К scales always uses 22 and 21. A one-digit prefix is padded with a zero on the right in sales mode and in the warehouse (not in delivery requests).

Item lookup when a weight label is scanned: by code, by PLU or both ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Barcode format" section → "Search when scanning label" («Поиск при сканировании этикетки») switch: "By code and PLU" («По коду и по PLU»), "By PLU" («По PLU»), "By code" («По коду»).
  • How to set up: pick an option — it is saved immediately. It must match what is written to the scales: with "By PLU" the PLU is written to Rongta and Mertech scales and to labels printed in the "Packaging" window; in the other modes the item code is written.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: in "By code and PLU" mode the POS searches the main barcode, additional barcodes, the item code and the PLU at the same time.

Barcode scanner in sales mode: the "Item barcode" field ​

  • Where: «Режим продаж» (Sales mode) interface → "Item barcode" («ШК товара») field (the cursor is placed there automatically). The scanner types the code and presses Enter — the item is added to the order. With the field empty, the search button next to it opens the "Enter an item barcode" («Введите штрих-код товара») window. The default hotkey is F4.
  • How to set up: the scanner must work in keyboard mode and send Enter after the code. The hotkey can be changed in settings on the "Hotkeys" («Горячие клавиши») tab.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: in the "Cashier" («Кассир») and «Администратор зала» (Hall manager) interfaces this field does not search by barcode. If nothing is found, the message is «"…" - Товар не найден!» ("Item wasn't found"); with "Show items from global database if not found" («Предлагать поиск по глобальной БД товаров») enabled, the POS looks the item up in the global database and offers to add it. The characters \ / ! @ # $ % ^ & * are not allowed in a barcode — the POS shows "In the given barcode … special symbols are included! Check the correctness of a barcode!" («В штрихкоде … присутствуют специальные символы! Проверьте правильность штрих-кода!»).

How the POS reads weight and piece labels ​

  • Where: sales mode → scanning a label into the "Item barcode" field; also when scanning in delivery requests and warehouse documents.
  • How it works: in sales mode the POS first looks for an item by the full barcode. If none is found and the code has 13 digits and starts with the weight or piece prefix, it is read as a label: the item code and the weight (or piece count) are taken from it, and the item is added with that quantity. Prefixes and format are set in the "Barcode format" section.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: if the weight part of the code is not numeric, the message is "Error while scanning the barcode for supermarket: …" («Ошибка при считывании штрих-кода для супермаркета: …»). Delivery requests always read "5 digits of code + 5 digits of weight".

30-character codes: the POS cuts out the item barcode ​

  • Where: Settings → "General settings" («Общие настройки») tab → "Search control" («Управление поиском») section → "Field "Barcode" contains 30 symbols" («Поле "штрихкод" содержит 30 символов») checkbox.
  • How to set up: tick the checkbox. When a scanned string is exactly 30 characters long, the POS takes 13 characters starting from the 4th and searches by them.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.

Finding a customer by scanning into the barcode field ​

  • Where: Settings → "General settings" → "Search control" section → ""Barcode" field for customer search" («Поле "штрихкод" для поиска клиентов») checkbox.
  • How to set up: tick the checkbox. In sales mode the field label changes to "Customer code" («ШК клиента»): scanning a card adds the customer to the order. With the field empty, the search button opens the "Enter the customer code" («Введите штрих-код клиента») window.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: while the checkbox is on, items are not searched by barcode through this field.

Selling piece items only by scanning their barcode ​

  • Where: Settings → "General settings" → "Search control" section → "Allow selling pieced items only by barcode" («Запрет продажи штучного товара не по штрихкоду») checkbox.
  • How to set up: tick the checkbox. Tapping the tile of a piece item that has a main barcode then shows "Given item can only be sold by scanning the bardcode" («Данный товар можно продать только по штрихкоду»), and the item is not added.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: weight items and items without a main barcode can still be added by tile.

Customer display via the display driver (2 lines of 20 characters) ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Customer's display" («Дисплей покупателя») → "Use customer's display" («Использовать дисплей покупателя») checkbox.
  • How to set up: install the DrvDspl v1.2 customer display driver (the display port and model are set in the driver itself) and tick the checkbox.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: in sales mode adding an item shows "name / qty x price = sum", going to payment shows "Sum to pay:" («Сумма к оплате:»), and after payment "Amount collected: … / Change: …" («Внесено: … / Сдача: …»); 10 seconds later the display returns to the default lines. In the "Cashier" interface "Sum to pay:" is shown when payment starts, and "Amount collected / Change" after payment. Driver errors are not shown on screen — they go to the program log.

Default customer display text (top and bottom line) ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Customer's display" → «Верхняя строка:» (top line) and «Нижняя строка:» (bottom line) fields → "Save" («Сохранить»).
  • How to set up: enter the texts and press "Save" — they are saved and sent to the display at once. These lines are shown when sales mode opens and after operations (by timer).
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: this applies only to the driver-based display ("Use customer's display"), not to the T610 display.

T610 customer display on a COM port: order total and change ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Customer's display" → "Use the customer's display T610" («Использовать дисплей покупателя T610») checkbox → "Select the COM port to which the device is connected" («Выберите COM порт к которому подключено устройство») list → "Send" («Отправить») button (test).
  • How to set up: tick the checkbox, choose the COM port and press "Send" — the line TEST goes to the display, and the POS reports "Message sent" («Сообщение отправлено») or "Failed to send a message on a display" («Не удалось отправить сообщение на экран»).
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the exchange speed is 2400 baud. In sales mode the order total is sent every time it changes, and "0" is sent when sales mode is closed. In the "Cashier" interface the total is shown when payment starts and the change after payment. The port selection block is active only while the checkbox is on. It can work together with the driver-based display.

Opening the cash drawer automatically on cash payment ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Fiscal printers" («Фискальные принтеры») → "Systemic control" («Системное управление») section → "Open cash drawer" («Открывать денежный ящик») checkbox.
  • How to set up: tick the checkbox. The drawer must be connected either to the printer chosen on the "Receipts and reports" («Чеки и Отчеты») tab in "Printer for printing bills and reports" («Принтер для печати счета об оплате и итогового отчета») — a standard drawer-kick pulse is sent to it — or to a ШТРИХ fiscal register (open command when the receipt is closed and on cash in/out).
  • Where it runs: on the POS; which payment types count as cash is set in the web dashboard.
  • Notes: the drawer opens only if the order was paid in cash or with a payment type linked to a cash desk for this workplace in the dashboard. The printer pulse is sent after successful fiscal printing (or when the order does not need fiscalization); if the fiscal register fails, the drawer does not open. For АТОЛ registers the drawer cannot be opened through the register itself — only via the printer pulse. Failures are written to the program log.

Automatic USB printer port switching (USB001 → USB002) ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Fiscal printers" → "Systemic control" section → «Автопереключение порта USB-принтера» (Automatic USB printer port switching) checkbox.
  • How to set up: the checkbox is on by default. If Windows creates a new USB port after the printer is reconnected, the POS moves the printer to that port by itself. After turning the checkbox on or off, restart the POS — the watcher starts when the program starts.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the printers watched are those from the POS settings: the kitchen ticket printer, the pre-bill printer, the paid bill printer and the label printer. Printers that are not on a USB port are not touched.

Choosing the printer for labels and price tags ​

  • Where: «Фасофка» (Packaging) interface → "Printer" («Принтер») tab → «Принтер для печати» (Printer for printing) list; the same list is in the "Label printing" («Печать этикеток») window and in the quick label printing window.
  • How to set up: choose any printer installed in Windows (including a label printer). The choice is saved at once and used by all label printing windows.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: labels are printed from print templates in the reports folder inside the program folder.

Printing a weight label for an item (packaging) ​

  • Where: «Фасофка» interface → "Packaging" («Фасовка») tab → select an item in the list → weight/quantity field («Получать вес автоматически» — get weight automatically — checkbox, scale button to request the weight manually) → «Тип этикетки» (label type) switch («Стандартная» standard / «Уменьшенная» reduced), «Кол-во копий:» (copies) field → «Печать этикетки» (print label) button.
  • How to set up: connect and set up the scales for automatic weight; choose the printer on the "Printer" tab. The label barcode is built from the weight or piece prefix, then the item code or PLU (depending on "Search when scanning label"), then the weight or quantity and a check digit. The code and the weight always take 5 digits each, regardless of the "Barcode format" setting. So if the POS settings use the «22 0001 183.550 X» format, labels printed here will be read incorrectly when scanned.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the item needs a name and a price, otherwise the POS shows «У товара не казано наименование или цена / Печать этикетки невозможна» (item has no name or price, label cannot be printed; spelling as in the program). An empty weight field gives «Введите вес или количество!» (enter weight or quantity). The number of copies is remembered.

Bulk printing of barcode labels from an item list ​

  • Where: «Фасофка» interface → "Label" («Этикетка») tab → "Товар / ШтрихКод / Кол-во" (item / barcode / quantity) table → "Add folder contents" («Добавить всю папку»), «Загрузить из буфера» (load from buffer), "Quantity" («Количество»), "Delete" («Удалить») buttons → «Тип этикетки» switch («6x4» / «Старая\Новая цена» old/new price / «2x3» / «2x4») → "Print" («Печать»).
  • How to set up: items are added by clicking the list (the POS asks «Введите количество этикеток» — enter the number of labels), as a whole folder, or from a buffer. Then press "Print" — labels go to the printer from the "Printer" tab. "Load from buffer" needs internet: the list of buffers (date/time, workplace, note) is loaded from the cloud.
  • Where it runs: on the POS; buffers come from the cloud.
  • Notes: rows with quantity 0 are skipped; the list is cleared after printing. Each label type has its own print template.

Printing price tags (big and small, with the old price) ​

  • Where: «Фасофка» interface → "Price tag" («Ценник») tab → "Add folder contents", «Загрузить из буфера», "Delete" buttons → "Price tag format" («Формат ценника») switch ("Big" «Большой» / "Small" «Маленький»), "Old price" («Старая цена») checkbox → "Print".
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: unlike labels, price tags open in a print preview window first and are printed from there. Each format has its own template and an old-price variant. The list is cleared after printing.

The "Label printing" window from the cashier interface ​

  • Where: "Cashier" (or «Администратор зала») interface → "Options" («Опции») button → "Additional functions" («Дополнительные функции») group → "Label printing" («Печать этикеток») → the window with the item list and barcodes, «Принтер для печати», «Тип этикетки» («Стандартная» / «Старая\Новая цена» / «Уменьшенная»), "Price type" («Тип цены»), «Количество копий» (copies), «Печатать выбранный штрих-код» (print selected barcode) button. «Открыть новую форму печати» (open new print form) opens the "Packaging" window.
  • How to set up: the employee needs the label printing right (set in the web dashboard). Without it the POS shows "Permission denied!" («Недостаточно прав!»).
  • Where it runs: on the POS; employee rights come from the dashboard.

Quick label printing from the "add to document" window of a goods receipt ​

  • Where: "Warehouse" («Склад») interface → goods receipt document → «Добавить в документ» (add to document) window → "Print" («Печать») button → quick print window: «Тип этикетки» («Стандартная» / «Старая\Новая цена» / «Уменьшенная»), «Принтер для печати», "Print" and «Закрыть» (close) buttons.
  • How to set up: select the item and enter the quantity in the "add to document" window, then press "Print". The number of labels equals the entered quantity; the price on the label comes from the price field of that window.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the "Print" button is visible only in goods receipt documents; if the item or quantity is empty, nothing happens.

Uploading items (PLU) to scales from the "Packaging" window ​

  • Where: «Фасофка» interface → "Scales" («Весы») tab → «Тип Весов» (scale type) switch ("Electronic scales "ШТРИХ"" / "Electronic scales "Масса-К"" / "Rongta electronic scales" / «Электронные весы Mertech») → "Upload PLU" («Прогрузить PLU»).
  • How to set up: ШТРИХ and Масса-К scales must first be enabled in the POS settings, otherwise the POS shows "Scales are not configured" («Весы не настроены»); the same upload windows open as from the settings. For Rongta and Mertech the upload starts at once, with the result "Successful" («Успешно»), "Partially uploaded" («Выгружен частично») or "Upload failed" («Выгрузка не удалась»).
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: if only the «Драйвер 100» (Driver 100) variant of Масса-К is enabled, the POS answers "Scales are not configured".

Temporary customer code and reading an RFID key ​

  • Where: customer selection window → «Временный код клиента» (temporary customer code) button → panel with the «Найти клиента» (find customer) / «Задать код» (set code) toggle buttons, a code field with an on-screen keyboard («Введите временный код клиента» — enter temporary customer code), the «Прочитать с ключа» (read from key) button, and "Save" (only in "set code" mode) and "Cancel" («Отмена») buttons.
  • How to set up: to read keys, the RFID.dll reader module must be in the POS program folder. In "set code" mode press «Прочитать с ключа» (or type the code and press "Save") — the code is linked to the selected customer. In "find customer" mode the POS finds the customer as soon as the code is typed or read.
  • Where it runs: on the POS; a reader module is required.
  • Notes: temporary codes are stored on the POS and deleted after one month. Without RFID.dll the «Прочитать с ключа» button does nothing; the error only goes to the program log. A code cannot be set for a customer group — «Задать код» is inactive.

Connecting the POSUA relay device (light control) via a COM port ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Lighting control(POSUA)" («Управление светом (POSUA)») → "Use POSUA device" («Использовать POSUA устройство») checkbox → "Select the COM port to which the POSUA device is connected" list → "Save".
  • How to set up: tick the checkbox — if the device module (pwr8.dll) is missing, the POS downloads it with the message "Download in process pwr8.dll. Подождите." («Происходит загрузка pwr8.dll. Подождите.»). Choose the COM port number and press "Save": the POS reports "Connection successfully set..." («Подключение успешно установлено...») or "Failed to connect to device..." («Не удалось подключиться к устройству...»).
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the exchange speed is 38400 baud. The device switches the light (power) of tariff objects and controls the turnstile.

Checking a POSUA channel ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Lighting control(POSUA)" → "Channel" («Канал») field → "Check the channel" («Проверить канал») button.
  • How to set up: save the COM port first (otherwise "Specify COM port for Posua!" «Укажите COM порт для Posua!»), enter the channel number (numbering starts at 1) and press the button. The POS shows "Please wait, channel is under checkup..." («Подождите идет проверка канала...») and switches the relay on for 2 seconds.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: on error — "Failed to check the channel..." («Не удалось проверить канал...»).

Switching an object's light on and off with the tariff timer ​

  • Where: when time is started on a tariff object the relay switches on; when the game/order is closed it switches off. The relay number is set in the object map designer: click the object in the list → «Добавить стол на карту ресторана?» (add the table to the map?) or «Стол уже добавлен на карту ресторана, хотите изменить параметры стола?» (table already on the map, change its parameters?) → «Настройки стола» (table settings) window → «Порт питания:» (power port) field.
  • How to set up: enable POSUA in settings; in «Настройки стола» enter the relay channel number in «Порт питания:» (0 — not used). Objects without a channel are not affected.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: works only with the tariff module enabled.

Turnstile control through the POSUA relay ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Turnstile control" («Управление турникетом») → "Turnstile control (button in sales mode)" («Управление турникетом (кнопка в режиме продаж)») checkbox, "Entry channel" («Канал вход», default 1) and "Exit channel" («Канал выход», default 2) fields, "Check the turnstile" («Проверить турникет») buttons next to each field.
  • How to set up: a configured POSUA device is required — its COM port is set on the "Lighting control(POSUA)" tab, otherwise the POS shows "Specify COM port for Posua!". Tick the checkbox, set the channels (they are saved automatically) and test them with the buttons — the relay closes for 0.3 seconds.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the fields and buttons are active only while the checkbox is on.

COM port lists in settings: why a port is missing ​

  • Where: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" (Масса-К port list), "Customer's display" (T610 port list), "Lighting control(POSUA)" (port list).
  • How it works: when the settings window opens, the POS checks ports COM1–COM32 and lists only those that exist and are not held by another program.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: if the port you need is not listed, check the USB-to-COM adapter driver and close the program holding the port (for example, a fiscal register driver), then reopen the settings.

Printing labels for all items of a goods receipt ​

  • Where: "Warehouse" interface → «Документы поступления» (goods receipts) list → select a document → "Label printing" («Печать этикеток») button → the "Packaging" window opens on the "Label" tab with the document's items → «Тип этикетки» → "Print".
  • How to set up: the button is visible only in the goods receipt list. The number of labels for each item equals its quantity in the document; the printer comes from the "Printer" tab.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the label barcode is the item's main barcode, or an additional one if there is no main barcode.

Editing label templates in the built-in report editor ​

  • Where: Settings → "Receipts and reports" tab → "Editing printable templates" («Редактирование шаблонов печатных форм») → "Label" («Этикетка»), "Small label" («Этикетка мал.»), "New-old price label" («Этикетка стар. нов. цена») buttons.
  • How to set up: press a button — the template editor opens (the ReportsEditor_v6.dll report editor module must be in the program folder), and the settings window closes. If the template file is missing — "Error while opening the report template..." («Ошибка открытия шаблона отчёта...»).
  • Where it runs: on the POS; the report editor module is required.
  • Notes: the "Label" and "Small label" templates are also used for the «6x4» and «2x3» types in the "Packaging" window. There are no edit buttons in settings for the "Packaging" weight labels, the «2x4» label or price tags.

Price type name on the "old/new price" label ​

  • Where: Settings → "Receipts and reports" tab → "Additional data" («Дополнительные данные») section → "Print payment type on a label (old/new price)" («Печать вида оплаты на этикетке (старая/новая цена)») checkbox.
  • How to set up: tick the checkbox. It applies when labels of the «Старая\Новая цена» type are printed from the "Label printing" window and from the "Packaging" window.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: despite the words "payment type" in the checkbox name, the name of the price type is printed above the new and old price.
