Label printing and packing — Paloma365 Classic (Windows POS)
This article is about Paloma365 Classic, the POS program for Windows: printing price tags and barcode labels, and packing weighed goods — the packed item gets a label whose barcode the POS recognizes automatically at checkout.
Overview
Label printing opens from the cash screen: "Options" → "Label printing". Packing, batch labels and price tags live in an extended window (opened from the printing window) with tabs "Packaging", "Label", "Price tag", "Printer" and "Scales".
The packing window can also be reached in other ways: as a dedicated main-menu tile (the administrator assigns this interface to the employee — handy for a packer) and via the "Label printing" button in the receipts list — in that case it opens straight on the "Label" tab pre-filled with the goods of the selected document (see Warehouse documents).
Printing labels
- Press "Options" → "Label printing" and pick the item (the grid shows the "Barcode" column).
- Choose the label printer — the POS remembers your choice.
- Pick the label type: standard, old/new price or reduced size.
- Choose the "Price type" — the list has exactly two options: "Item details" (item-card price) and the sell price type assigned to your point of sale (no other price types appear here) — set the copies and print.
If the item has no name or price, the POS refuses to print — fill in the item card first.
Packing weighed goods
Open the extended window, tab "Packaging":
- Find the item ("Search type": "Name", "Barcode", "PLU code", "Item code", "Vendor code") and choose the "Price type" ("Retail" by default).
- Put the item on the scales. With the automatic weight option enabled, the POS reads the weight from the scales itself; you can also type it manually. It then shows the "Price" and "Sum".
- Choose the label type and copies, then print — the label carries a weight barcode built as: prefix (weight prefix for weighed items, piece prefix for piece items), then the PLU or the internal item code (depending on the "label search mode" setting), then the weight or quantity, and a check digit. On the "Scales" tab you set the scales type (SHTRIH, Massa-K, Rongta electronic scales, Mertech); "Upload PLU" sends items to label-printing scales. For SHTRIH and Massa-K it opens their own upload window (see Scales and barcodes); for Rongta and Mertech the upload starts immediately and reports "Successful", "Partially uploaded" or "Upload failed". If no scales are configured, the POS says the scales are not set up.
The "Label" and "Price tag" tabs handle batch printing: fill the list with "Add folder contents" or from the scan buffer, remove a line with "Delete", set the per-line label count with the "Quantity" button (an integer is expected), pick the label format or the "Price tag format" ("Big" / "Small", with an "Old price" option) and press "Print". The printer is set on the "Printer" tab.
Common problems
- The label printer does not print. Re-select the label printer (the POS remembers the previous choice) and make sure it is installed in Windows and switched on. See Receipt printing.
- "Scales are not configured" / no weight arrives. Check the scales type on the "Scales" tab, the connection, and that the item is marked as weighed.
- "Upload failed" / "Partially uploaded" — check the connection to the scales and retry the PLU upload.
FAQ
What is the difference between a label and a price tag?
A label goes on the package and carries a checkout barcode; a price tag is for the shelf, with its own "Price tag format" and an "Old price" option.
What does the "Old\New price" label print?
A label with both prices at once. The old price comes from a special "old price" price type: the system remembers the previous price there when the item is repriced. If the item was never repriced, no old price appears. Handy for repricing and promotions.
How does the POS sell packed goods by label?
The weight barcode encodes the item code (or PLU) and the weight — the POS recognizes it by the prefix and fills in the quantity and sum.
Labels print with the wrong price — why?
Check the "Price type": the label uses either the item-card price or the point's sell price. Prices are changed with warehouse documents — see Warehouse documents.
