Stop list on the POS — Paloma365 Classic (Windows POS)
This article covers Paloma365 Classic, the Windows POS application. The stop list holds dishes and items that temporarily cannot be sold — for example, when ingredients run out. A stopped item stays in the menu, but the POS refuses to add it to an order.
Overview
Open the stop list from the register screen: "Options" → the "Operate with orders" group → "Stop-list". Access can be limited by an employee permission and by the point's stop-list password. The window shows the menu tiles with search on the left and the current stop list (item names and time remaining) on the right, with the buttons "Print stop-list", "Save" and "Delete".
On the sales screen a stopped item's tile turns grey with the "IN A STOP LIST" mark; trying to add it shows "Item is in the stop list!". The stop list can also be managed from the web dashboard — see Stop list in the dashboard.
How to stop an item
- Open "Options" → "Stop-list".
- Find the item on the left (by menu groups or search) and tap its tile — the change applies instantly: the item goes into the stop list right away and appears in the list on the right. Tapping an already stopped item just shows a "the item is already in the stop list" message. A whole group can be stopped via the icon in the corner of its tile; if the group is already stopped, the POS offers to replace it (refreshing its contents) or reports that the group's items are already in the stop list.
- Optionally set a date and time until which the item stays stopped, or set the remaining quantity via the "Enter amount" window. A time set for a group applies to all its items; a time already in the past is rejected. The remaining quantity is a hard limit, not just a reminder: the POS will not sell more than the set remainder — exceeding it shows a "blocked by stop list" message, and the limit counts the item across all open orders of the point at once.
- Press "Save" — this button closes the window and starts synchronizing the stop list with the point's other registers. "Print stop-list" prints the "STOP-LIST" sheet for the kitchen.
Note: changes take effect the moment you tap a tile, not when you press "Save". Closing the window without pressing "Save" does not undo the changes already made — the only way to release an item is the "Delete" button.
How to release an item
Select the item in the right-hand list and press "Delete" — its tile becomes active again. Deleting a group entry releases all its items as well. Items with a time limit are released automatically when the time runs out.
Quick button on the sales screen
To avoid going through "Options" every time, enable the "Show "Stop-list"" checkbox in the POS local settings — a separate stop-list button appears on the sales screen and opens the same window. The employee permission and the stop-list password apply to it the same way. Local settings are described in POS local settings.
Common problems
- "Permission denied!" — the employee permission forbids working with the stop list; permissions are managed in the dashboard.
- The POS asks for a password — a stop-list password is set for the point in the dashboard; enter the point's password, not the employee's.
- An item or group cannot be deleted or changed — it was stopped from the dashboard; release it there.
- No "Stop-list" button in "Options" — the button is hidden for some point types; ask your administrator.
FAQ
A dish was stopped after a guest ordered it — what happens?
Lines already in the order stay; the stop list only blocks new sales.
Can I find out who stopped a dish?
Yes. Every stop-list operation on the POS — adding, removing, setting and clearing the time — is recorded with the employee in the Suspicious Actions log in the web dashboard (Logs section): the entries are "Adding to stop-list", "Removing from stop-list", "Setting stop-list time" and "Removing stop-list time".
Does the stop list apply to all registers?
Yes — to the whole point of sale, on every workstation after sync. The marks are visible right on the menu tiles — see Sales and orders.
