Notifications bell — Paloma POS 2

This article is about Paloma POS 2 — the new touchscreen Paloma cash-register app. It covers the notifications bell: the single place where the register collects every important warning — fiscalization, sync, shift and printing. If you are not sure this is your app, start with “How to tell you have Paloma POS 2”.

Overview

  • The bell sits in the right part of the top bar and is reachable on any screen after you sign in.
  • When there are no active warnings, the icon is completely hidden — that is the normal, healthy state.
  • The bell shows a badge with the number of warnings: red — there is an error that needs attention; muted — only soft reminders remain.
  • Tapping the bell (tooltip “Notifications”) opens the “Notifications” sheet with the list of warnings — most important first. Each one has its own action button.

What the warnings mean

WarningWhat it meansWhat to do

“Shift not auto-closed”Open checks blocked the automatic shift closeClose the open checks, then close the shift manually: “Closing the shift”

Common issues

  • There is no bell on the screen — no warnings are active, so the icon is hidden. This is normal: the register shows the bell only when it has something to say.
  • No fiscal-device warning even though the register is not set up — it appears only where fiscalization is enabled (for example, Kazakhstan) and never on a device in Management mode — that device sells nothing.
  • I tap “Retry” but the sync notification stays — check the internet connection and try again later; see “Sync and offline”.
  • The print notification keeps coming back — jobs keep failing. Sort out the printer (“Printers”) or clear the queue with “Clear queue”.

FAQ

Why is the badge sometimes red and sometimes gray?

A red badge means the list contains an error (fiscalization, sync, printing, shift limit). The muted color means only soft reminders remain, such as the shift-handover offer.

A notification disappeared on its own — is that normal?

Yes. Every warning watches its own condition: as soon as the cause is fixed (sync succeeded, shift closed, receipt printed), it leaves the list, and once the list is empty the bell itself hides.

What is the most important item in the list?

Warnings are sorted by priority. The top one is “Fiscal device not configured”: while it is shown, payments go through without fiscalization. Next comes the sync failure: sales are not reaching the server.
